According to the New York Times in 1983 , 14 trucks would come to bury thousands of cartridges ET The Extra -Terrestrial unsold in the desert of New Mexico Almagordo . The Atari 2600 game was so bad, and had been a resounding flop if Atari would have found other ways to bury its stocks in secret. Thus was born the urban legend of the game AND real marker of the crisis of video game 80 .
Today, the legend takes a new focus . That of truth .
So thousands ( some say millions! ) Unsold cartridges that are well underground. With a documentary directed by Zak Penn , the excavations have been undertaken and are now reaching their peak with the discovery of cartridges ! A historic moment, almost touching , immortalized in pictures below ...
